Dr. Jeremy Van Buren joined Phoenix Ophthalmologists in 2009. Born in Peoria, IL, Dr. Van Buren moved to the valley after completing medical school and residency training at the University of Wisconsin. He received his Bachelor of Science in Physiology & Biophysics from the University of Illinois, his Master’s in Neuroscience from Northwestern University in Chicago, and his PhD in Pharmacology & Neuroscience from Southern Illinois University.
Following graduate school, Dr. Van Buren set his sights on medical school, where he decided to combine his interest in surgery with the physics of vision and the complexity of the human eye. A prolific author, Dr. Van Buren has written numerous chapters and publications on several aspects of ophthalmology, from eyelid malposition to retinal/orbital cancers.
A true believer in the benefits of international medicine, Dr. Van Buren has performed eye surgery in the Philippines and has given pharmacology and medical education lectures for the World Health Organization in India.
“Dr. V” is an avid outdoorsman and spends his free time with his family.
